Learn to make a digital story.

Digital stories are short videos that combine narration, still and moving images, sound effects, and music to tell a compelling story. At Digital Story Makers, we help you find the story you want to tell and translate that story into a beautiful and meaningful video.

Why should I make a digital story?

  • REMEMBER. Digital stories often capture memories and transform them into an engaging and emotionally powerful digital format that is easy for viewers to access. See "Life" for a digital story about a father who remembers the pain and joy of experiencing his son's premature birth.
  • CONNECT. Digital stories allow us to share our experiences and knowledge with others who may have taken a similar journey. See "Nine Lives" for a digital story that explores how a breast cancer survivor found an unlikely source of support and inspiration.
  • INFORM and PERSUADE. Digital stories can raise awareness or provide a call to action. See "Lessons from the Bees" for a story about the bee crisis and one person who is fighting to sustain pollinator populations.
  • EMPOWER. Digital stories build confidence, create community, and give voice to those who may not feel they have been heard. See "Flipping Switches" for a story about a young Hmong man who lives his life in two languages.

workshops

I offer workshops that teach the process of digital storytelling from start to finish. In these hands-on sessions, you learn the art of storytelling, as well as the techniques and technical skills needed to create a compelling short video.

Story making services

You have a story to tell, but you’d like someone else to put the pieces together into a digital story. I will work with you to turn your story into a short video. You provide the ingredients; my job is to create something that is true to the story you want to tell.

That was a great workshop. I learned so much and I’m thrilled and
excited about a whole new way to tell stories.
